These pictures record some of the events that have taken place under the supervision of the Education Service. If you have visited the Library, or the Library's stand at the Urdd Eisteddfod, take a look - you might find a picture of yourself.
Poppy receives a key at the Assembly
An important ceremony took place in the Welsh Senedd building on March 15th to celebrate the National Library's centenary. On that day senior officials from the Library travelled to Cardiff Bay to present a special key to the 100th pupil to visit the Library in 2007. Poppy Wilson from Penboyr School was the lucky pupil, and she enjoyed a trip to the capital city to receive the key. Below she is pictured holding the key with Dr Brinley Jones, the President of The National Library of Wales, and in the second picture both are joined by Andrew Green, the Librarian.
WORLD BOOK DAY - Penboyr School
To celebrate World Book Day 2007, Penboyr School visited the National Library. It was a very special visit since one of the school's pupils, Lisa Daniels, had her poem included in a volume of poetry - A Gift For St David's Day - that was released earlier this year. The pupils witnessed a copy of the publication being accepted into the Library's official collection, and since this is a particularly important year with the Library celebrating its centenary, the BBC were present to record some of the visit - including Lisa reading her poem in the DRWM..
During the afternoon, a workshop was conducted in the company of author Morgan Tomos who spoke about his work. At the end of the session Morgan gave the children an opportunity to design a cover for an imaginary book - and many creative ideas were suggested. These activities were sponsored by The Welsh Book Council as part of their Book Day programme.

ST DAVID'S DAY 2007 - Dihewyd School
On St David's Day this year, puils from Dihewyd School visited the Library. They looked very elegant in their Welsh costumes as you can see in the pictures below.

EISTEDDFOD YR URDD 2006
In the Urdd Eisteddfod in Ruthin during May, the theme for the Library's stand was 'The Glove'. Throughout the week the Library's Artist in Residence, Christine Mills (partly sponsored by Artworks Wales) held workshops based on decorating the gloves with characters from Welsh literature. Visitors were also given the opportunity to design colourful patterns on the white gloves - which are similar to the ones used in the Library to protect old materials.
